What to Expect in a Birth Story Reflections™ Workshop

There’s something sacred that happens when people gather to reflect on birth.

Not to compare stories. Not to fix anything. Just to be witnessed. To write. To breathe. To remember.

When I created the Birth Story Reflections™ workshop, I knew I didn’t want it to feel like a traditional writing class or even a yoga session. I wanted to build something different—something slow, intentional, and deeply honoring of each person’s story.

If you're curious what it's like to join one of these circles, here’s what you can expect:

We begin with breath.

We start gently—with a grounding meditation to help you arrive. You don’t need to prepare anything ahead of time. Just show up. Bring tea, a cozy blanket, and your Birth Story Reflections journal.

Then, we write.

You’ll receive a guided prompt to explore one layer of your birth experience. You’ll have quiet space to write—no pressure to share, no need for polished words. Just you and your story.

This is where the transformation begins.Something shifts when we give ourselves time to slow down and listen to what’s still living inside us.

Between each section, we move.

After each writing session, we pause for gentle movement.Nothing intense—just a few minutes of breath and simple stretching to help integrate what’s surfaced. You can do it seated or lying down.

This weaving of body and story is at the heart of the work.

Then, if you wish, you share.

There’s space to share a small piece of your story—or to simply listen and witness. No one is required to share. But something powerful happens when we speak something aloud and have it held with care.

This isn’t performance. It’s presence.It’s being seen.

You’ll receive the journal.

Every participant receives a printed or digital copy of the Birth Story Reflections™ journal. You can use it during the workshop and keep writing afterward.

It’s a beautiful keepsake—and a reminder that your story is worth tending to.

Final thoughts

This isn’t therapy. It’s not a class. It’s something softer. A space to be with what’s still unfolding in you.

Whether your birth was empowering, confusing, traumatic, beautiful—or all of the above—your story is welcome here.

If you’re in Northern California, I’ll be announcing a special in-person Birth Story Reflections™ workshop this summer in Nevada County—likely in late July or early August. More details soon, but I’d love to see you there.

With care,

Daphne
